Sharing Internet connection
Connecting your LAN to the Internet without hardware routers
With UserGate Proxy Server you can connect all your Local Area Network users to the Internet using only one external IP address. Along with your LAN, you, of course, need to have an Internet connection such as DSL, cable, modem, wireless, ISDN or any other.
All traffic goes through one proxy server so an administrator can fully control the traffic, get statistics, set rules and provide complete security while your users access the Internet.
Caching Internet and FTP traffic
UserGate supports the transparent caching of internet traffic through HTTP and FTP protocols. It provides faster internet access to the most frequently used internet resources and economizes traffic usage.
Automatic dial-in if you use a modem connection
UserGate supports dial-in functionality. So if a connection is not active a user can have UserGate start dialing in order to set it up.
Network Address Translation
Network Address Translation (NAT) is an advanced technology for connecting multiple computers to the Internet using one IP address. If NAT is used UserGate works as a gateway, which provides Internet access to all computers on your local network.
DNS forwarding
UserGate forwards all user DNS queries to a specific DNS server.
